Congratulations to Gemma Gransbury on winning a prize for best poster at the International Conference on Molecule-based Magnets (ICMM2018) in Rio de Janeiro. Gemma gave a flash presentation and poster on her PhD research: “Magnetic Exchange in a Cobalt-Semiquinonate Complex”. Gemma’s attendance at the conference was supported by a Postgraduate Travel Bursary from the Royal Australian Chemical Institute (RACI).
Congratulations to Fateme Akhlaghi on the publication of “Photocoloration in Hybrid Amino Acid Polyoxometalates” in the “Celebrating Polyoxometalates” special issue of Eur. J. Inorg. Chem. commemorating the first report of the Keggin structure 85 years ago.
Congratulations to Boskovic Group members Maja Dunstan and Jett Janetzki on winning awards at the recent School of Chemistry Awards evening. Maja won the Andrew Kirby Award for Research for her MSc studies and Jett won the James Cuming Memorial Award (major) for his 3rd year BSc results.
Welcome to new PhD student Zahra Zahir, who joins us from the University of Peradeniya in Sri Lanka. Zahra will be working on metal complexes with redox-active ligands for valence tautomerism and inorganic molecular materials.
Congratulations to PhD student Gemma Gransbury, who has just received an RACI Postgraduate Travel Bursary. Gemma will receive $2000 to help her to attend the International Conference on Molecule-Based Magnets (ICMM2018) in Rio De Janeiro in September and to visit Professor Matthew Shores’ lab at Colorado State University to undertake solution magnetic measurements.
Congratulations to PhD student Maja Dunstan, who has just received an AINSE Postgraduate Research Award for her project “Crystal Field Excitations and Exchange Coupling in Lanthanoid Complexes by Inelastic Neutron Scattering”. Maja will receive an annual stipend of $7500 to help her perform inelastic neutron scattering measurements at ANSTO.
Congratulations to Michele Vonci on successfully completing all the requirements for his PhD degree. His thesis is titled “Synthesis and investigation of polyoxometelate-supported lanthanoid single-molecule magnets”.
Congratulations to Maja Dunstan and Jett Janetzki for making the 2017 Dean of Science’s Honour List for academic excellence in their MSc and BSc studies, respectively.
Congratulations to Fateme Akhlaghi-Bagherjeri for submitting her thesis entitled “Solution behaviour and photochromic properties of a new family of mixed-metal hybrid amino acid-polyoxometalate” and successfully completing all requirements for the PhD degree.
